The "Bring A Smile To Haiti" Campaign

"We wanted to do something that would let our fans do something tangible, where they felt like they were doing something specific for Haiti Relief," stated Israel Negron, Community Relations Director for Our Washington Nationals. "And we were able to find an organization that was looking to partner and bring products from here in The United States to Haiti."

Beginning with the very first exhibition game at Nationals Park on April 3rd against The Boston Red Sox and carrying through the entire month of April, The "Bring A Smile to Haiti" Campaign will encourage fans attending every single home game on South Capitol Street to bring new and unused toothbrushes as donations for earthquake survivors in Haiti. "Gifts In Kind International"--which distributes corporate product to non-profit organizations around the world--will accept every toothbrush from Nationals Fans and send all of them to those needing in the earthquake ravaged country.

"As I am sure most of you know, when the earthquake happened in Haiti, the majority of organizations asked for cash donations," continued Mr. Negron. "That’s great, and I think that was very successful.'Gifts In Kind' checked with their contacts in Haiti. The groups they work with on the ground found out that one of the things desperately needed were toothbrushes--and personal hygiene items in general. So we are excited to be able to work with 'Gifts In Kind' on this very important community healing program."

Fans can drop off their toothbrush donations at two specially marked bins--one to be located near The Washington Nationals Dream Foundation Kiosk in Center Field Plaza (near The Red Porch Entrance) and the second near Left Field Gate Entrance and The NatsTown Community Desk Kiosk. 13 different home games are scheduled at Nationals Park during April and the program will run through the Sunday April 25th game versus The Los Angeles Dodgers.

Additionally, beginning April 16th, fans can go to a special link on nationals.com to purchase tickets to the remaining April home games on South Capitol Street where a portion of the ticket price will include a cash donation benefiting Gifts In Kind International and the National Organization for the Advancement Of Haitians.
