Ok--Here's your chance. Whether you loved, disliked or were indifferent about the music played during any ballgame at RFK Stadium--now you have the opportunity to have a say in what YOU WANT TO HEAR at New Nationals Park.

So, will "Sweet Caroline" survive the final cut? No one song was so vigorously debated among Fans of Our Washington Nationals.

Today--Our Washington Nationals announced their "You Make The Call" Promotion. Fans will choose what songs will be heard after A Nationals Home Run, The 7th Inning Stretch and at the conclusion of any Nationals Victory.

Running between March 13th and March 26th, all fans can vote at nationals.com/youmakethecall

Here's the official release:

The Washington Nationals today announced the launch of their “You Make the Call” promotion, as part of their effort to “Welcome Home” fans to Nationals Park. This promotion will provide Nationals fans a unique opportunity to choose the music they want to hear at Nationals Park and help to establish new music traditions of their own. Through an online voting system, fans may select the song the team plays after a Nationals Home Run, during the Seventh Inning Stretch (immediately following baseball’s traditional “Take Me Out To The Ballgame”) and after a Nationals victory.

The “You Make The Call” promotion will run from Thursday, March 13 at 9:00am through Wednesday March 26 at 5:00pm. Fans may choose from a selection of songs, including “Because We Can” by Fat Boy Slim or “Song 2 (Woo Hoo)” by Blur for the Home Run song, and “Build Me Up Buttercup” by The Foundations or “Shout” from Otis Day and the Knights for the Seventh Inning Stretch. Choices for the Nationals Victory Song include “Beautiful Day” by U2 and “How Do You Like Me Now” by Toby Keith. For a full listing of songs, and to cast a vote, fans may visit nationals.com/youmakethecall. The winning songs will be posted on nationals.com and e-mailed to all registered Nationals “Insiders” once voting is complete.

As voting has not begun--the complete song list is not yet on the team's website. But, I would be curious to know if "WRITE IN" votes will be taken. You just know, someone is going to come up with a good alternate choice and start a campaign of their own--and people are going to listen.

Good Idea With Fan Participation.

Now--Go Make That Call--beginning Thursday.

I've been saying for years they need to play "Heart" after “Take Me Out To The Ballgame” for years now. This should be a no brainer, it is a classic song about D.C. baseball.

If not that, at least as on an organ during pregame, commercial breaks, etc.

"Heart" is a classic song about losing baseball in DC. For that reason alone, they shouldn't play it. Also, it skews way old. Hell, I'm 53, and it was long before my time.

But really, I don't care what they play as long as it's not Sweet Caroline. I wonder, though, if along with the poll they will include sound clips of the various choices so we can hear what they sound like before we vote? I'm not familiar with some of these choices by name, although maybe I've heard them.

And please, let's not vote for between-pitch selections for Jesus Colome. I fear In A Gadda Da Vida might win for that one!

Honestly all those song ideas are unoriginal and bad, with the exception of bustin loose. Other than that they should try to have some originality and not make the fan experience so cookie cutter.

I remember I went to a game last year, and after we won I heard the PA announcer play "How Ya Like Me Now?" My first gut reaction was YES!!! I'm not a country music fan, but this song is great and I think it makes a perfect fit for the Nats. Collectively, we Nationals fans have a chip on our shoulder---a big one. It seems hardly a day goes by when somebody disrespects us. Either it's a local Orioles fan who can't understand why Washington couldn't be content with driving up to Baltimore like him, or out-of-town baseball fans who couldn't bother to see if the facts back up their opinions. For example, Andy Gresh of ESPN picked the Nats to finish last and lose 100 games again.

(News flash: This franchise only lost 100 games once---in 1969. The Senators last lost 100 games in D.C. in 1964. And the original Nationals last lost 100 games in Washington in 1955---they officially became the "Senators" the following year.)

I also get the feeling that the 72 times the Nats managed to get a victory, there was a look of disbelief in the visiting clubhouse---"We've just lost to these guys?"

So while I have yet to select my choice for home run song and seventh inning stretch, "How Ya Like Me Now" seems perfect for a victory song.

Maybe it should be played at the end of games where we lose? (The Orioles have played "Tomorrow" from Annie for years under the same circumstances.) If not that, then how about "Tubthumper" from Chumbawamba?

Has anyone considered "Hail To the Chief" (or "Hail, Columbia") with 21-gun salute when there's a home run?

I hate to say it, but I think that "You Gotta Have Heart" is a boring, old snoozer of a song, and it went over like a lead balloon on the few times it was played at RFK last season. There's no way that they should bring that one back.

I agree with E. Cunningham about "How Do You Like Me Now?" It's a great song, and perfect for an underdog (which the Nats will be in majority of their games this season) to play after each victory. I definitely would vote for that one.

It's ridiculous that they didn't include links to music samples, so for those who don't know all the song names, I posted them all at blog.letteddywin.com.

Personally, I think "You Gotta Have Heart" is a no-brainer because it's uniquely ours, though if it gets rejected I don't mind the suggestion of playing it after losses.

I am for less programming and more creativity and spontaneity. It would be boring to play the same song for certain situations.
