Yes!!

Really, there is not much more to say if true. Signing Our Own Deserving Boys is far better than trying to always win with someone elses. Just ask The Washington Redskins about that. The African Queen and I couldn't be happier to read this report.

Yes!!

I hope this report is correct, but I won't pop any champagne corks until it's official. Remember, everyone was certain President Obama was going to throw out the first pitch at Nationals Park this year, too...

I wonder if the delay has anything to do with wanting to deduct 100 bucks for each bad throw. ;)

He's got to get beyond that at some point, doesn't he? C'mon!

I hope it's true. Actually signing the face and building block of the franchise to a long term contract would do a lot to say that the ownership is willing to back up its statements about the plan for building this team with its actions and checkbook. Zimmerman is on record as saying that he doesn't want his contract negotiations to be a distraction during the season. So if these reports aren't true, there's a serious PR issue.

I have to confess that I've become an enthusiastic Capitals fan this season. Obviously they're playing very well, but I think also the franchise has been doing a lot of things right to get to this point. One of them was signing their franchise player to a long term contract. The quotes from OV that he thinks the team has always been honest are like the Mastercard commercial -- priceless.

I also think the Capitals have done an excellent job showing their appreciation for the support of their fanbase. At Verizon Center, the ushers actually have (and use) stop signs to keep people from entering the stands while the puck is in play. The robocall from the coach thanking me (as a season ticket holder) for my support was very nice gesture. And finally, hell will be colder than a hockey rink before Leonsis (or anyone else in the Caps organization) ever begs fans from our rival cities to come to our games.
