Away Again

Again, I am out of the country on business and will not be back until Wednesday--at the earliest. Of course--this will probably be the week Our Washington Nationals send out all the Relocation Information.

Kasten visits with Andruw Jones in his home - does this signify that Stan the Man views 2007 as a year truly attributable to injuries, and that he thinks Jones may be a relative bargain for Nats? Of course, several other richer teams probably inclined to think the same way. Then, would come down to whether the bidding price is still not astronomical and Kasten's past relationship makes Nats best place for Jones, all other things being somewhat equal...Kasten is enough of a showman to recognize that Nats need to point to potential new slugger to help sell tickets at the new park.

Boras probably wants $85 million for four years for Jones!!!! Gamble probably worth half that AT MOST for a club with a $40 million current payroll.

At the end of the day, doubtful Nats will sign any of the Big 3 centerfielder free agents, and that ultimately may be a good thing. Translates into a barely .500 squad at best for 2008 in all likelihood. But, then the farm produces two everyday players for 2009, hopefully. Nats claim they intend to trade for upgrades this off-season; yet, other than Cordero and Rauch, whom do they have of real value to other teams??

Odds are they WILL sign one of the free agent pitchers, probably Jason Jennings, as they adore guys coming off major recent arm surgery, as we know, thinking it is the best way to seize a bargain...

Trust in Kasten. And Free Parking. All Good.

Mike Cameron says he's interested in coming to the District. Though he carries a 25 game suspension on his back.

Potential CFs:

Andruw Jones
Aaron Rowand
Torri Hunter
Rocco Baldelli
Mike Cameron

I'd like to see Rocco out there patrolling the gaps, but it's not my wallet.

Of course, my faith is in Bowden as he has surprised me, much to my delight, many times before

One last thing. There is a bruhaha because the Nationals scheduled some charity funraiser/pep rally outside of the District. I thought one of the selling points of MLB was to bring outside fans like myself (and SBF) from the suburbs...

After watching Glavine and Livan down the stretch, I hope we don't go for either one. I would like to keep my National memories of Livan as positive as possible, and besides we should stick with the youth movement. I still say Aaron Rowand would be the best choice as CF, but he does not sound that interested. Finally, as a District resident, I can't blame the Nats at all for trying to spread the love into Maryland. That's where their support is the weakest. And notice into which state the green line extends, in both directions.
