The 2010 Christmas In July Toy Drive

Whether the event has been held at RFK Stadium or Nationals Park, we've always participated in the Annual Christmas in July Toy Drive sponsored by Our Washington Nationals to benefit The U.S. Marine Corps Toys For Tots Program each of the past four years. The African Queen looks forward to this event every season. Since 2006, during a summer weekend series in the Nation's Capital involving Washington's Major League Baseball team, volunteers from the U.S. Marine Corps have accepted donations of new and unwrapped toys from fans outside the ballpark gates before scheduled games.

This July 9th through July 11 weekend is the scheduled 2010 Toys For Tots drive at Nationals Park for 2010.

Beginning this evening when The San Francisco Giants come to town, those marines will be back, stationed outside Center Field Gate until the 4th inning of each game. Not only are the young servicemen and women taking your gifts of toys, but they will also accept your cash donations. All items and cash collected to be distributed to needy organizations throughout the greater Washington. D.C. area.

The 5th Annual Christmas In July Toy Drive is a worthy event for a good cause. Before heading out to South Capitol Street this weekend to watch Our Washington Nationals play ball, don't forget to bring along toy as a gift. Remember, there is always someone out there in need. In this case, children throughout the D.C. Metropolitan Area worthy of your support.

Here is the schedule for when the Marines will be manning Center Field Gate to accept your donations this weekend:

Friday, July 9th & Saturday July 10th: Gates will open at 4:30pm for the 7:05pm starts

Sunday, July 11: Gate will open at 11:00am for the 1:35pm start.
