Beginning in 2005, The African Queen and I enjoyed Section 320 at RFK Stadium. Our Washington Nationals and the Nats320 Blog came to life for us there. Since 2008-we've sat in Section 218 at Nationals Park, but our blog name has not changed. Our roots are in Nats320-and we will never forget those good times. But, as always, we will attempt to provide fun, information and commentary about Our Washington Nationals. All photos, unless otherwise attributed-COPYRIGHT Nats320--ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

Away For The Weekend
We are away on a weekend trip and will be back Monday Morning.
Nats make no errors, walk no one, throw no wild pitches, and don't lose! (Manny uncrosses arms and gives team "the next day off v. Lincecum.")
Let's get Steve Spurrier in here as interim manager - his quotes are more fun than Manny's. "What are you going to do - cross your arms and that's it?" Excuse me, shouldn't that be the question directed at Mr. Napoleon, not asked rhetorically by same?
"If I were the manager, and you were a lady, would you marry me anyway, would you admit that your hubby manages the Nats?" (doesn't rhyme, but you get it.)
I would: give Z-Man a day off and play Willie Harris or Belliard there; until Dukes gets back, play Willie in center, Josh in right, and Dunn in left; play Nieves everyday, and Bard once a week until Flores can return; assign Colume and recall Rivera and then assign Wells and put Olsen in the pen.
I would be more aggressive on the basepaths and make Z-man team captain and have him give some infield instructions during the game.
I would bat Johnson third; Z-Man fourth; and Dunn fifth. I would order outfield to play more no doubles defense.
I would not cross my arms; I would stop blaming fate; I would stop saying my guys are working hard, when they are not. I would use Kearns only as a defensive replacement and in emergencies - I would never say that he is playing "because we need some thunder in our bats."
I would throw out my baseball book. I would force my young starters to go at least 6 innings virtually every time out; and have Nieves be more assertive with them.
I would not be a manager using this job as a stepping stone. I would be happier in my work.
What you didn't get invited to Philly by their management?
ReplyDeleteAdmit it, SBF. You're at the marathon meeting of the search committee to find Manny Acta's replacement, aren't you?
ReplyDeleteYou're not missing much. The Nationals are still just as afwul as they were before you left.
ReplyDeleteSomething tells me you did not go back to Citizens Bank . . . .
ReplyDeleteHow was Broadway with the First Couple?
ReplyDeleteTalk about not missing much, aside from pain.

All a dream. All worth it.
SenatorNat, all those things you would do. But along with all that, would you not also mow the grass?
