Beginning in 2005, The African Queen and I enjoyed Section 320 at RFK Stadium. Our Washington Nationals and the Nats320 Blog came to life for us there. Since 2008-we've sat in Section 218 at Nationals Park, but our blog name has not changed. Our roots are in Nats320-and we will never forget those good times. But, as always, we will attempt to provide fun, information and commentary about Our Washington Nationals. All photos, unless otherwise attributed-COPYRIGHT Nats320--ALL RIGHTS RESERVED.

My Main Man!!--Nice Pay Raise
My Main Man!! Ryan Church received a nice pay raise from The New York Mets. A negotiated one year deal to avoid arbitration. Not bad--$2 Million--after receiving $395,000 last year. Good for him. Honestly, I wouldn't be surprised to see him break out with a big season in The Final Year of Shea Stadium.
Ryan's perfect swing
ReplyDeleteNow it is Church-at-Shea Day
Missed it...low & away
Trust in SBF's Main Man. All Good.
Church - .320, 35 and 120
ReplyDeleteSchneider .270, 15 and 70.
Milledge .290, 22 and 90
Dukes - 5 to 10.
Nothing brings out the best in a ballplayer than a little love. Bob Short gave Dick Bosman a raise in 1969 after Boz had gone 2-9 with a 3.69 ERA in 1968 -- the Year of the Pitcher. Bosman responded by going 14-5 with an American League-leading 2.19 ERA in 1969. That was after they lowered the mound to make it easier on the hitters!
ReplyDeleteI wish Ryan all the best in New York. From what I remember, he has always hit well at Shea. The same with Schneider.
Anonymous: Thanks for the laugh. The pitcher they signed from Japan is no model citizen either. What is going on?
And he keeps No. 19 as well! Schneider gets 23 again, Marlon gave it up for No. 9. Nice of him.
ReplyDeleteRyan Church and Brian Schneider are two Mets I won't boo in 2008.
ReplyDeleteAdolfo Soriano on the other hand...
When are single game tickets going on sale? I mean, in typical Lerner/Kasten fashion, absolutely NO information about when on the team website. I've checked other team sites, they at least have a date posted so fans know. But knowing this franchise and the fact that the powers that be seem content running their operation like a single-A franchise, they wont go on sale until a week before the home opener, announced along with the promotional schedule (remember that one last year?)
ReplyDeleteLast year single game tickets went on sale on Feb 23rd for season ticket holders, and a few days later for everyone else. We still have another couple of weeks yet until the comparable date this year, so I suggest chilling out for now. Save up your pennies if need be, and soon enough you'll be able to spend them. They aren't playing the games until March 30th anyway. What's your hurry on this?
ReplyDeleteMonday February 11--Single Game Ticket Announcement--according to The Nationals.
ReplyDeleteA couple of guys at the Ballpark Guys message board said that there was an announcement posted on the Nats website of a March 4 starting day for single ticket sales. That announcement was subsequently pulled. I don't know if it was removed because it was incorrect, or because they simply didn't intend to have it up yet.
ReplyDeleteMost likely that information on the website about March 4th leaked out before it was supposed to be seen. Keep in mind that for single-game seat sales to begin, there need to be walk-up ticket booths. Those ticket booths are at the new stadium and are therefore still technically under construction. I'm sure construction of them is on schedule, but there will need to be occupancy permits and such before they can be used. The Nationals no doubt want to be absolutely sure that all of that stuff is in place before they announce a date that the booths will be open. Look how much people are screaming because the announcement of a date has not come by the day that they previously announced that the announcement of the date would come. Extrapolate from that to the PR disaster it would be if they announced a date and then had to change that announced date. Really, I don't understand all the angst about this. It's not like the games start tomorrow. There are nearly fifty days left til Opening Day. Things will fall into place before then.
