Even though our stats are better than last year, our results are on track to be about the same. And he can't get his team to relax and just play. Too bad, I had higher hopes for Riggleman.paulhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/15683734720896529408noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28676208.post-502713900700955782010-06-30T08:13:55.615-04:002010-06-30T08:13:55.615-04:00"Thus far, Nats Storen and Stasburg have exce..."Thus far, Nats Storen and Stasburg have exceeded expectations, as has Pudge, and there have been NO INJURIES of any significant duration or serious quality - yet the team has run off the road already."

What are Jason Marquis, Ross Detwiler, Scott Olsen and Jesus Flores (should have been back by now), SenatorNat? You could have added that this technique, playing to tie, in essence, is supposedly reserved for the home team, not the visitor. "What would Tony LaR. do?" He would bat Strasburg eighth in all probability to begin with, and then he would have had Desmond swing away and batted Guz for Strasburg. Riggs is career .470 manager and will be fortunate to hit that mark this season - he is there because he comes cheap, and will stay there for this year and next for same reason.

Line-up needs revamping NOW as follows: 1. Bernadina CF
2. Guzman SS
3. Zimmerman 3B
4. Willingham LF
5. Dunn 1B
6. Morse CF
7. Rodriguez C
8. Gonzalez 2B

This line-up dramatically and almost instantly improves defense, and actually gives much better potential for scoring, too. Our starters of late, including Atilano and Martin, have not been the culprits - it has been no sustained offensive production, and horrid defense. Harris and Nieves have to go, too: ample minor leaguers there equal for sure.

Cheap, cheap, cheap: the ghost of Clark Griffith haunts the Nationals in the form of the Lerner Family. By 1969, the expansion Senators finished the season 10 games over .500. Will this team by in a position to do same in 2012, with Bryce Harper at Triple A (until the All-Star Break that season) based on current roster, plus economy free agent pick-ups for the outfield and perhaps first-base? Very doubtful at this pace.

Dunn is not a position player, and Nationals hope to keep him for a discount based on that fact it would appear. Is that a rational foundation-building move? The question is rhetorical.

Desmond is certain to be a star in the league according to both Rizzo and Riggs, the latter would like "nine" of him, which would give team 171 errors at this point! Guz is unlikely to be resigned since he will get an offer from someone undoubtedly more than Nats figure he is worth to them.

So - imagine a very plausible scenario whereby Dunn and Guzman are not on the Nats' 2010 roster; yet, Rizzo has indicated that he will not entertain going after Werth in the free agency market for "more than his value like Matt Holliday." This philosophy conforms and pleases the Lerners without question, but informs Strasburg and others who may have exceptional ability and promise that D.C. is not going to be the place to be for multiple runs at World Series play.

Thus far, Nats Storen and Stasburg have exceeded expectations, as has Pudge, and there have been NO INJURIES of any significant duration or serious quality - yet the team has run off the road already. This speaks volumes to the fact that cheap, cheap, cheap, as an MO will keep the Nationals second-rate.

Trust in a rational payroll for a Big League City - or resign oneself to little league results for the duration. All understandable.SenatorNathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10049860385485455410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28676208.post-21140851355643969932010-06-29T12:28:58.397-04:002010-06-29T12:28:58.397-04:00also, I'd like to talk about using your photos...also, I'd like to talk about using your photos in the future if possible.
