In hindsight Marlon Byrd would have been a real asset to have had since second part of 2005. Milledge will not succeed in majors in left field since he is not a smart player and they know it.

Problem that Manny has is common to the team: everything is driven by the minimum: organize the team around as many minimum salaries as possible - the offer to Texiera was window-dressing; and they will not pay over $14 million for Strasburg, so that may translate into going after a 16 year old catcher in 2010 draft...

Fast Eddie Cohen looks at Minnesota; Oakland; Pittsburgh small market management as prototype for payroll - overall it will not exceed $60 million on average per year. And Manny fits right within that purview, at $500-600k. This brass is the mirror (opposite) image of Dan Snyder - everything done on the snide with the promise of future blossoms.

And, yes, now it is revealed that he ain't no Joe D. And he doesn't have to be Lastings, either, since the investment is so small.

Trust in Filene's Basement. All fungible.SenatorNathttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10049860385485455410noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28676208.post-75213123707202718082009-06-23T08:52:50.506-04:002009-06-23T08:52:50.506-04:00Problem is that Manny was less than honest with us...Problem is that Manny was less than honest with us about Milledge and CF. All last year and this spring training he told us that Milledge was a CFer. He told us that he was improving and that he did not hurt us. NOW Manny is trying to tell us that nobody within the Nats believed that....then why did he try to sell the fans on the BS.....I do not like Mangers who lie to fans.

Tell us the truth, we have eyes, and understand the game. It just makes Manny look stupid when he tells us Milledge is fine in CF.Anonymousnoreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-28676208.post-63954462714805112812009-06-22T22:30:41.828-04:002009-06-22T22:30:41.828-04:00SBF,
