Manny Being Manny
Manny Ramirez has always been one of the greatest pure hitters of my lifetime. Not many other players have come close--A High Average, Power Hitting Slugger. Clutch and always ready to be a difference maker--Ramirez maintains one of the quirkiest persona's in the game. You never really know how Manny Ramirez is going to act, or react.
Like Alfonso Soriano was in 2006 for Our Washington Nationals, Manny Ramirez is "Must See TV" during each and every At-Bat of EVERY GAME he has ever played in. He's that good of a hitter and that wild of a personality to make it all work for him.
I kove the guy. He is never boring.
Which made this article on ESPN's Outside The Lines so interesting. Informative, Funny, Creative, Bill Simmons did a marvelous job of describing his affection for his Boston Red Sox and The Attraction that Manny Ramirez became in New England.
One of the best reads of the year, worth your time. And it's going to take some time, as this article is very long.
No wonder Manny Ramirez Jr. (Ronnie Belliard) idolizes his New York Borough compatriot so much--they are both out to have fun with Baseball. It's also why I was so upset to miss The Los Angeles Dodgers come to Nationals Park this past August. Wearing Number 99, Manny Ramirez was coming to The Nation's Capital, his presence alone was enough excitement for me.
And possibly now thrilling enough to potentially lead The Los Angeles Dodgers to The World Series. What would happen if The Dodgers play at Fenway Park in The 2008 Worlds Series? Now that will be EVEN BETTER THAN MUST SEE TV!!
You better believe The Fox Network wants that matchup too. Ratings Heaven. There are not many players quite like Manny Ramirez--especially one possibly returning to the sight of his Greatest Fame--in Boston--in October--playing for the competition.
What a moment that could be!! And you can also bet, Manny will just be Manny.

Now that's a great photo!! Thanks
Hope you forgive me, SBF but I have to root for the Phillies in the NLCS. Notwithstanding you and TAQ's treatment at Citizen's Bank Ballpark, I truly believe the Phils are the lesser of two evils.
Still, the way they are playing, I would not be surprised if we do see the Dodgers in the World Series. They better enjoy Manny now, because I'm betting he jumps to the Yankees next year...
Sorry, just because the guy is a great hitter and helped the Dodgers get into the playoffs does not discount the type of exit he had with the Red Sox.
The man is a great player -- one of the best hitters of any decade -- however, his antics with Boston have made me not want to ever be a fan of his.
We all want athletes to play the game and conduct themselves the so-called "right way", Manny Ramirez sure deviates from that example.
I'm with anon (anon #2?) re. Manny. Great hitter but his conduct (not only the manner of his exit from Boston but also his physical attack on the Sox' traveling secretary) leaves something to be desired, IMO.
